An Educational Component
Nicole offers two types of workshops. They are based on training and approaches used at The Moscow Art Theater School and her experiences working with theater artists all over the world. These workshops are designed to give participants a new way of looking at their own approach to acting and get the juices flowing to create their own work and practice.
Complete Actor’s Workout
This is a 90 minute actor’s training session focusing on exercising the five major areas of an actor’s craft: concentration, impulse, tempo/rhythm, imagination and partner/ensemble building. Inspired by holistic systems of bodywork, this class hits each of these areas of performance, bringing your mind, body and creative spirit together in a structured group format.
Nicole leads exercises taught at The Moscow Art Theater School and other world class conservatories in an energetic and professional atmosphere. The Complete Actor’s Workout is fast paced, fun and designed to sharpen and invigorate the actor.
Etudes or Structured Improvisation for the Actor
This workshop utilizes the actor’s imagination and presence to create theater in the moment.
Using animals, objects, works of art and literature as inspiration, students create mini-theater pieces (etudes) singly, in partners or as a group. These are created in the moment or with very little preparation. Etudes gives actors an opportunity to apply their training to highly imaginative, bold and personal performances.
Building etudes can turn a group of strangers into a close knit ensemble, be used to explore relationships and characters in a play. Etudes are an invaluable tool, giving actors the chance to create theater outside of a result oriented setting. Inquire about workshops geared toward specific materials that are being worked on.
The Etude Workshop is a celebration of theatricality and imagination; it is designed feed the creative spirit.
Workshops run from 90 minutes to three hours. Both workshops can be taught together with a break. Depending on the needs and interests of your students, a workshop can be crafted to meet various requirements and areas of theater and performance.
Students in interdisciplinary theater studies of all kind benefit from these engaging and fun workshops. Workshops can be designed for students of all ages from at middle school to university as well as professional performing artists and interested adults.
